Happy Sky Watch Friday!

It's been HAZY - HOT - HUMID here on Cape Cod, which means the sky looks the same pretty much all day... a fuzzy washed-out blue. These photos were taken about 5PM when the beaches start to clear, and all the beachgoers leave for their fish-n-chips. I could hardly stand the heat on the beach at 5:00pm, let alone sitting out on the beach all day in the blazing hot sun at noon! There sure are lots of die-hard beach fans (some of them resembling lobsters at the end of the day)!

Bliss at the Bay

Cape Cod Bay.

Whenever it's low tide, all the kids at the beach love collecting these tiny hermit crabs and placing them in their pails filled with sea water.

When the tide is out, there are oodles of these little hermit crabs scurrying around. So many, in fact, that they crawl across your feet with every step you take in the water!

Remnants of a horseshoe crab. These fellas can grow up to two feet long, and have been around for over 400 million years! Some people refer to them as "living fossils".

Inside a Cape Cod Garden

I've been quite the shutterbug as of late (in fact, whenever I take out my camera, my older kids say, "Mom, you're such a tourist!"). I won't clutter these next few Cape Cod photo journal posts with my chatter, so please just enjoy the pics! =)

All the statues in this Cape Cod garden are just a few steps (literally) from an award-winning fish and chips shack, and just a further few steps to the beach. Ahhhh... a little bit of heaven on earth! =)

Even Better Than the Beach...

Even better to me than the beach, are the tell-tale signs my children are home for the summer.

More than the sound of the waves or the gulls, more than all the clamcakes at the finest fish-n-chips shacks, more than the prettiest beach cottages... I savor the little footprints, which I know will all too soon grow too busy to stick around home for summer vacation.
Be grateful for the little things, as they are the BIG things.
